This policy explains what 18byte.com collects, why, and what it does not do. It is deliberately short, because the site does deliberately little.
The short version
We do not run advertising. We do not sell data. We do not use tracking pixels from advertising networks. We do not require an account to read anything on this site.
What is collected automatically
18byte.com is a WordPress site hosted by Hostinger. Like almost every web server, it records standard access logs when a page is requested: the IP address making the request, the page requested, the time, the referring page, and the browser user agent. These logs are used to keep the site running and secure. They are held by our host under its own retention terms.
The site uses LiteSpeed Cache to serve pages quickly. Caching does not identify you.
Cookies
Reading 18byte.com does not require you to accept any cookies, and we set none for advertising or cross site tracking. WordPress sets functional cookies only for people who log in to administer the site, which is not you unless you work here.
Analytics
As of the date on this page, no third party analytics is installed on 18byte.com. If we add analytics later, we will update this page first, we will choose a privacy respecting configuration, and we will say plainly what it measures.
If you email hello@18byte.com, we keep your message so we can reply and, where relevant, act on a correction. We do not add correspondents to a mailing list. There is currently no newsletter on this site. If one launches, it will be opt in, with no pre ticked consent box, and unsubscribing will be one click.
Links to other sites
We link out to vendor pricing pages, provider documentation, and other publications so you can verify what we have written. Those sites have their own privacy practices and we do not control them. Opening a link from here shares your request with that site in the normal way the web works.
Embedded content
We avoid embedded third party media where we can. Where an article does embed something, that provider can see your request as though you had visited it directly.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to ask what personal data we hold about you, to have it corrected, or to have it deleted. Because we collect so little, the answer is usually server logs held by our host and any email you have sent us. Write to hello@18byte.com and we will tell you what exists and remove what we can.
Children
This site is aimed at a professional and general adult audience. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Changes
If this policy changes materially, the date at the top of this page changes with it. Our editorial standards and AI use policy cover how we work; this page covers your data.
